Together with the Outer East Head of Umpiring and their experienced coaching team, the Yarra Ranges Umpires Association is committed to the ongoing fitness and skill development of all our umpires across every discipline - both on and off the field. We know the skills umpires learn are valuable for any career path and there are many opportunities at all levels of football to become an umpire. At Yarra Ranges we have structured talent pathways available in all disciplines of umpiring and provide expert coaching, mentoring and experienced umpires to help you at every step of the way. Academy & Development Camps
Being a part of the Yarra Ranges Umpires Association and participating in our shared passion of AFL Umpiring, is a rewarding experience for all our junior and senior umpires.
Inspired by the success of our 2022 Darwin Development Camp we've been delivering even more umpire pathways.. in January 2022 the Eastern Ranges Umpire Academy was formed as part of a joint program between Outer East and Eastern Football Leagues and the program is aligned to the Eastern Ranges NAB Football League.
Exclusive Training Portal
All our Umpires also have access to our exclusive online Training Portal where they have 24/7 access to online training exercises, exclusive videos to help develop umpiring skills, training modules, quizzes to test their umpiring knowledge and decision making abilities, a coaches corner weekly blog and much more!
During 2022, together with current AFL Listed Umpire John Howorth, the YRUA designed exclusive content to keep our umpires engaged, educated, active and healthy, and most of all motivated about umpiring.
For our umpires it's their online toolkit for pre, post, during the season and anytime in between.

Being an Yarra Ranges Umpire means being part of a diverse Club of men and women of all ages who love keeping fit and enjoy the challenge of umpiring a fast-paced game of football. We have great fitness programs aligned to all umpiring disciplines and ages. Umpiring is a great way to get fit and stay fit!. For those that are already in good shape and want to get even fitter then we've got the perfect job for you. For those not in great shape but want to get fit - we've covered too! Umpiring is a great way to earn money whilst keeping fit, having fun and meeting new people.
Bring a bunch of your mates down and get paid to hang out or come down on your own and meet heaps of like minded people who are passionate about umpiring.

Our elite senior umpires have every opportunity to transition to VFL ranks and beyond through our "Eastern Ranges Umpire Academy".

Interested in the great game of AFL? Whether you want to be a Field, Boundary or Goal Umpire, out on the field we're all one team, so whatever level you want to reach in umpiring, you won’t be doing it alone! Junior boys and girls learn valuable skills such as responsibility, leadership, time management and teamwork. All it takes is a little hard work and dedication. Get in the Game! Already an experienced Umpire? Transferring from another League, or a past player wanting to stay in the Game? We’d love to have you join us!
